Favorite Music

Now, I’m never 100 percent on what music I like. You ask me tomorrow and I may say something different. So, this page will be a constant work in progress.

I’m going to start with one of the classics of my favorites.

No Doubt

This is my all-time favorite band. My first CD ever was Tragic Kingdom and in my opinion it was overall their best album. Back in high school I dyed my hair pink and fixed it just like Gwen. Today I see pink hair and I think, “been there, done that. Posers.”

What can I say? I heard you are either an Elvis fan or a Beatles fan, then I’ve heard you are either a Rolling Stones fan or a Beatles fan. Well, in either case I’m a Beatles fan. And I’m just now starting to dive into it all.
Josh bought me 3 albums for Christmas, yay!

My favorite Beatles song. I hear it work and I feel so much better. Like I have a skip in my step

I can’t remember the first time I heard this band, but there are two instances in my life where they changed who I was.
One, I was a victim of MTV and I remember the music video for “Under the Bridge.” Anthony was gorgeous and as a young girl that was the moment I fell in love with alternative music.
Two, my best friend from junior high knew the words to the song. Even though she wasn’t a great singer, I loved to hear her sing it.
My favorite memory of her is driving home from a drama and debate tournament on the school bus. Everyone was very quiet. She broke into song like always and I watched her sing while the sun set behind her.

This isn’t a funny or great story, but out of the half dozen CDs I ever had of Alanis, only one of them I bought.
The rest I stole. Today, I don’t own one. I believe it’s Karma.
Jagged Little Pill is one of my favorite albums.

If the radio played this band over and over I would drive forever and ever. … And gas would have to be unlimited, because I would be broke quick.

It’s kinda crazy how I stumbled upon this artist and she is one of my all-time favorites.
A few years ago, September 2004, my friend Geni and I would take road trips through Texas to get to the beach. We stopped in Dallas and hung out downtown. We were walking by the Gypsy Tea Room and saw a tour bus. There was a line of people, so we got closer to check it out. A man was selling tickets on the corner and I asked what was showing.
Liz Phair, The Cranberries, Katy Rose and Charlotte Martin were all together for the Chicks with Attitude Tour. I haggled the man to sell the tickets for $20 a piece and we went in. Charlotte was the opener and she was already performing. We squeezed up to the front and opened our minds to her soulful, piano music.
After two songs I was mesmerized by the emotion in her songs. Her lyrics touched my heart and I agreed.
This video isn’t at the Gypsy Tea Room, but the experience very similar.
Since, then I’ve been a fan.
The audio and video don’t sync up and it’s annoying, but the song is beautiful

An Oklahoma band that I went crazy about.
I have many memories with their songs. I saw them in concert and they were just amazing.

She’s so pretty, too.

Don’t judge me by this band. I know some pretty judgmental people, so I mean it. Behave.
Anyway, when I worked at American Eagle one of my favorite videos was “Oh Yeah,” by the Cliks. Here’s a video of their version of “Cry Me a River.”
