Yes, I found a short period of calm or diminished activity to — blog.

Now, what do I blog about.
For starters, the kitchen is making progress!
For those who don’t know. Josh bought a house and we are remodeling and updating it. The kitchen is first and it is being remodeled. Our way of saying, it’s getting more than just an update.
We have been demolishing, plastering holes, sanding, painting, painting and painting. Jim, Josh’s dad, put down Hardiebacker for the new tile, but really only put it down where the cabinets will go first. We have to have the cabinets down first before the tile, so we’ve been waiting on that. Yesterday, the cabinets finally made their way into the kitchen. Not completely though. The cabinets lack the doors.
And as I was watching Rick install the cabinets, I noticed a board that would possibly be in the way for the dishwasher to slide in its spot. I asked about that and found out that the cabinets need that extra brace for when the counter tops are installed the leveling stays intact. Ah, OK.
So, when the granite counter tops are installed he will cut the board.
Ah, OK.
Then, this morning — while staring at the marvelous cabinets — I thought, “We need to get the granite installed first, so the tile can go past that dang board!”
For weeks, I’ve been thinking of the order of which things should take place in the kitchen. 1. cabinets, 2. tile, 3. granite, 4. back splash, 5. appliances. Fini! … Whoa, whoa! New thought had me in a whirl wind of “Wait a minute folks!”
So, I texted Josh and we have it all ironed out. 2. and 3. are switched. Tomorrow, the granite guys will come to the house and measure what cabinets Rick made and then go back and make their cuts on the Juperano Mystic Blue granite we picked out. And on Saturday, Josh and I will make sure the big ol’ sink will be mounted for the granite installation. Whoot, whoot!
Today, I took pictures of hardware at Lowe’s we need to consider buying to replace the old, un-matching hardware we have for doors. I also bought some more paint for painting the pantries and a few spots on the ceiling.
Tomorrow, after work I will head back to the house — unlike what I normally do on Fridays — and touch up some spots that I had to rub spackling in. Rick made a few boo boos on the wall that will be exposed, so I need to fix them.
Other than that, I dyed my hair today. You can barely tell that I did anything, but I know and it makes me happy.
For weeks to come, I will get my income tax return, start tanning, highlight a little bit of my hair, exercise more and start painting the living room ceiling. Yay! :-)
